Is there anything more classic than a pizza party? This is a theme that transcends all ages! Who doesn’t love being celebrated with pizza? My 8 year old is obsessed with pizza. In our house, every Friday night is pizza night and usually right after school, he starts asking for pizza. Since he has special needs and doesn’t like a lot of fuss, I decided to keep it small and make his party all about his favorite things; pizza and his family.
I started my design for this party using one of my favorite party items, tissue festooning. Shindigz carries it in a variety of different colors and the possibilities are absolutely endless for your party! I used the red, white, and green to make an Italian flag backdrop for my party. I simply pinned the pieces into my foam backdrop in the design of the flag.
For my tablecloth, I used this classic red and white checkered plastic tablecloth, which calls to mind pizza joints past and present. For extra height and décor around my party table, I used these giant helium balloons in red, green, and white. I added a little something extra with squares of red and white gingham handkerchiefs that I picked up at the craft store. For the front of the table, I made this adorable pizza banner using felt! It’s so easy because you can’t mess it up! All pizza looks a little different! You could even add your own “ingredients.”
Since we were having pizza for dinner, I had to have a pizza cake, right? This deep dish pizza cake was the stuff of my dreams! How amazing is this? It was the perfect size for our little party. Since we had several adults at the party, I also wanted to offer a healthier food option, so these simple caprese skewers displayed in chalkboard paneled tin boxes. I love these boxes because they could be used in so many themes simply by changing the chalkboard! I also had some really fun pizza shaped rice krispie treats by the amazing Bella’s Bakery and Bowtique. They were delicious! And as a small favor, we had Gummi Pizza candy!
A pizza party can be a perfect theme for any kid or adult! Have fun planning yours!
